UN Asian and Pacific Meeting in Support of Israeli-Palestinian Peace, 10 - 12 July 2012, UNESCAP, Bangkok‏

We are aware that your registration might be made after the stated deadline date. We would nevertheless encourage you to register as soon as you are able. 

The theme of the Meeting will be “International efforts at addressing the obstacles to the two-State solution – the role of Asian and Pacific governmental and non-governmental actors”. 

The objective of the Meeting is to encourage broad international action, including by Asian and Pacific States, intergovernmental organizations and civil society for achieving a peaceful solution to the conflict based on a shared vision of two States, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security. The Meeting, among other things, will look at obstacles and opportunities on the road to achieving peace between Israelis and Palestinians. It will consider ways in which Governments, intergovernmental organizations, and civil society can be instrumental in helping the parties resume and strengthen the political dialogue and in promoting and applying the principles of international law to efforts aimed at resolving the conflict. From the regional perspective, the event will consider how Asian and Pacific States can effectively contribute to resolving the conflict through their action in national andintergovernmental mechanisms.

Should you be reading this before 5th July, then you will have an opportunity to find out more on the event then. Mr. Wolfgang Grieger from the UN's Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will join PSC Thailand's next meeting on Thursday 5th July to present and explain the event for us. You should have received a separate invitation to the PSC Thailand meeting.
